The
Vision:
The vision is simple - Osceola
Residents First.
Osceola
County and all its citizens deserve the
best quality of life in the future. For
over 125 years the pioneering spirit that
made this country great has been lived by
the people of Osceola County. From the first
settlers who came to graze cattle and plant
citrus, to the citizens who are today looking
for a great place to raise a family - Osceola
has always been on the frontier.
Today
the experts would tell you that the Osceola
County is the key to growth in all of Central
Florida. With this knowledge comes great
responsibilty and the realization that we
do not have the time for the failed policies
of the past. We need true leaders and visionaries
who will do more that fill your mailbox
with broken promises. We need leaders with
an understanding the reality of our surroundings,
and the practical steps it will take make
our county move forward once again. That
is why Jonathan is running for County Commissioner,
District 5.
He
want to see a day when our children and
our grand children can go to quality schools,
graduate, get a degree in Osceola County,
live here and work here at a quality job.
Being economically self sufficient here
in Osceola County should be the ultimate
goal of all of our policies, instead of
focusing on being the bedroom community
for areas outside of our borders. Jonathan
knows that we will see a day where Osceola
county will stand on its own.
The
Issues:
Jonathan
Harrell knows that local government has
over-extended itself
and to turn Osceola around we must:
| |
Pass
Ethics Reforms:
Jonathan Harrell believes that the
muddy waters of who our government represents
must be made clear. |
| |
 |
Re-establish
trust and transparency in government. |
| |
 |
Establish
an independent citizen Ethics Review
and Compliance Commission. |
| |
 |
Pass
local campaign finance reform removing
the doubt of who government works for. |
| |
Stop
Over-Development:
Jonathan Harrell has a record of fighting
to stop uncontrolled growth and the
over-development in our housing market. |
| |
 |
Get
local government out of the development
business. |
| |
 |
Establish
fair growth policies that reflect the
will of our current residents. |
| |
 |
Stop
over-supplying the housing market and
undermining property values. |
| |
 |
Implement
growth standards that raise our communitys
expectations of service instead of lowering
them. |
| |
Strengthen
our Local Community:
Jonathan Harrell knows that in order
to attract companies that will provide
better jobs, we must first show we our
willing to invest in our own countys
infrastructure and publicsafety services. |
| |
 |
Sitting
in traffic should be the exception and
not the rule. |
| |
 |
Our
childrens education needs to be
permanent not portable. |
| |
 |
Make
public safety funding our top priority. |
| |
 |
Work
to attract higher-paying jobs that specialize
in prosperous economic trends, such
as clean renewable energies and health
care instead of subsidizing industrial
jobs that will bring in smoke stacks,
more traffic, and pollute our limited
water supply. |
| |
 |
Establish
benchmarks of success for our Economic
Development department so we can measure
our countys economic progress. |
| |
Right-size
Government:
Jonathan Harrell believes that we must
prioritize government services
and stop wasteful government spending. |
| |
 |
Government
must live within its means and not increase
its revenue for every pet project or
to expand services that are not needed. |
| |
 |
Provide
opportunities by giving a hand up, not
a hand out. |
| |
 |
Explore
cost effective and efficient ways to
control the size and cost of government. |
|
